By Faith We See Jesus Eternally And Supernaturally Feeding Us From The Garden, To the Table, To Paradise And The Kingdom

“And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. 29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days. 30 I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke. 31 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. 32 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

This is table of the Lord Meditation Number 43.  

Since we are going to have a little longer introduction to this meditation, please keep in mind where I am heading- greater knowledge- and even perhaps- a vision of how wonderful and rich is the supernatural fare we partake of at the table of the Lord, from the tree of life who, is Jesus risen from the dead, reigning and ruling forever. And we know from our prior studies about the table that Jesus is very generous in providing Spiritual food and revelation knowledge in the house and at his faithful and his table.  

Intro: Smith Wigglesworth Sees Himself Eating From The Tree of Life After His Long Sought After Baptism In The Spirit 
There are a number of ministries that collect gently used gospel tracts and books- and all sorts of still valid Christian teachings- and then distribute them where folks lack the resources to own such materials. I totally support this.

But I am not much help to these types of ministries because the Lord keeps sending me back to the same books, and bible commentaries and dictionaries and devotional materials and biographies- all the same written materials that continually help me in my Christian walk.  

Think about how most of us become bible based and committed Christians? First off- we read the bible! That's the first step. And then, there often many other written materials, and then testimonies by certain shining stars of the Christian faith (cf Daniel12) whose books and meditations and biographies or autobiographies and bible scholarship that took us to another level of faith and understanding and witness. 

So I tend hang on to my gospel library- because this is how the Lord creatively got into my eager and needful hands- the materials he used to teach me and continue to teach me about our faith.

The good thing about hanging on to the whole of this modest number of written materials is that at any moment the Lord can tell me to go to such and such a page for an inspiration, a word of knowledge, a sermon subject, or for a discernment, or a teaching, or an answer to a question, or point of study, or whatever He wants to tell me.

And it never fails- by this quick and easy initial two minutes of faith- I can go find that book and read what the Lord specified me- and thereby the Lord reveals something important for the health and growth of my faith- to which I am to discern and then say "Yes and Amen!"

Our shepherd of souls, Jesus, never stops guiding and teaching us- wherever and whenever- and however He wants- so long as we are open to it.

So the other day he brought me to page 79 of Smith Wigglesworth's "Ever Increasing Faith"  (Gospel Publishing House Springfiled Missouri) 1971. The chapter concerns "Righteousness" as it relates to the fullness of holiness and the receipt of the baptism in the Holy Spirit. 

Wigglesworth (1859-1947), was a humble English plumber and a great man of God. He tarried (as did the first Christians for Pentecost's infilling) and intensely sought the fullness of the baptism in the Spirit from 1894-1907- 13 years of tarrying!

Most of us know a bit about Paul's conversion- how he went to persecute Christians in Damascus and on the way was struck down, blinded by the Spiritual light of Jesus for three days. Then he was led into the city by his fellow travellors from Jerusalem. After three days, his sight was restored and he was baptized by a Jewish beliver named Ananias. Right away he went to preaching that Jesus was the Son of God in synagogues in Damascus. This greatly upset his fellow co-religionists who had not accepted Jesus. Thus, he has to flee under threat from the governor and was let down through the city wall to escape death (2Corinthians11,32; Acts9,23).

Then Galatians1,17-18ff  says after three years he went up to Jerusalem and preached around the city- but that Hellenistic non Christian Jews wanted to kill him, so his fellow Jewish Christian brothers sent him back to Tarsus for his safety- and the safety of other Christian toos- for 14 years. For this long time Paul waited for the Lord to send him out again to fulfill his mission.

Similarly, Wigglesworth spent thirteen years tarrying for the baptism in the Spirit. Couldn't read the bible, didn't have the gift of preaching, but he prayed through- for the fullness of God, who is Spirit, in him. Paul spent seventeen years of preparation until he went back to Jerusalem.

We also might recall that God also kept his greatest Hebrew scripture leader Moses on the misssionary sidelines too- Moses. Moses fled Egypt after being a foreign princeling in Pharoah's court, and then spent forty years learning to be a shepherd with his father in law. With marriage and patience and his new found sheperding skills he was ready to go back and shepherd his people Israel out the cruel slavery of Egypt- unto the freedom and purposes of the God of the bible.   

All three of these men tarried for the fulness of the call, the fullness of service, the full equipping for the season of their highest and most powewrful and capable ministry.

Psalm145,15 says: "The eyes of all look expectingly to You, and You give them food in due season." They were fed Spiritually as needed to fully ready themselves to carry out the fullness of their ministry and service to God and his people.

We Rend Our Servant Hearts At The Table Unto The Gift of Finest Wheat From God

Proverbs25,3-4 concerns the unsearchable heart of the king- and by extension the unsearchable heart of all humankind. The heart of a king- and all human hearts are unsearchable- because our hearts- the sum of our Spiritual persons- will, mind, memory, emotions, faith choices- make us who we are- our hearts are meant to be formed by the unsearchable ways and wisdom of God's word and Spirit.

And part of this formation by God is the removal of the green wood of our hearts, all the spiritual stuff that hasn't been burned away by God's grace and formation yet, unto "burning coals", burning goals unto the burning up of our whole spiritual sacrifice of oursleves to God (cf 1Kings18,36-38, which tells us of the whole burned sacrifice of the Elijah sacrifice as opposed to the sacrifice fail of the prophets of Baal that God would not even ignite at all). 

Proverbs25,3-4 puts this Spiritual refinement process, and I know am changing metaphors here from wood to silver, this way: "Remove the dross from the silver and out comes material for the silversmith."  The silversmith, just like God, needs a purer substance, a purer heart, to work with, so we can then see and then do what God wants. 

And that purer and more capable person is the one who really is wholly willing and desirous to see God and see the visionary things of God and then reap the strength and direction and purposes of his visions. God doesn't necessarily need big and strong people, or only bright and bonny people, or people in any which way, but He seeks and uses a heart that puts God first, last and always: "Blessed are the pure of heart they shall see God!"  Matthew5,8

Wigglesworth married his wife "Polly" in December of 1882. She was a preacher with the Salvation Army and taught Smith Wigglesworth to read the bible. He goes down in Christian history as a miracle working healing evangelist. He lived a long and fruitful and faithul life- eighty seven years- to fulfill his best service to our Lord and His people. (Praise God! Have you noticed the often healthy longevity and shine of so many in the Pentecostal movement all their lives?)     

On page 79 Smith Wigglesworth ably describes how our righteousness through faith in the precious atoning blood of Jesus comes before abundant grace and peace and knowledge and holiness. By this he means the Spiritual fullness of God in us, poured into us per Joel2,28, ie Baptism in the Spirit. After this pouring in, which Wigglesworth waited 13 years for, God gave Wigglesworth a vision (ie knowledge) of Adam and Eve losing their right to eat of the tree of Life, who is Jesus. And he also saw in the same vision that he had the new found right to eat of this same tree. This vision fulfilled Joel2,28-19: “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. 29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days." 

It's sort of a long passage, but it's one of the best from this formerly illiterate plumber who by God's abundant Spirit learned to plumb the depths of how God feeds us.

"You will note, as you read the first two verses of the first chapter of the second epistle of Peter, that this grace and peace is multiplied through the knowledge [vision] of God; but first our faith comes through the righteousness of God. Note that this righteousness comes first and knowledge afterwards. It cannot be otherwise. If you expect any revelation of God apart from holiness, you will have only a mixture. Holiness opens the door to all the treasures of God. He must bring us to the place where we like our Lord, love righteousness and hate iniquity before He opens up to us the these good [Spiritual] treasures. When we regard iniquity in our hearts, the Lord will not hear us; and it is only as we are made righteous and pure and holy through the precious  blood of God's Son that we can enter into this life of holiness and righteousness in the Son. ...

"After I was baptized with the Holy Spirit the Lord gave me a blessed revelation. I saw Adam and Eve turned out of the garden for their disobedience and unable to partake of the tree of life, for the cherubim with the flaming sword kept them away from the tree. When I was baptized [in the Spirit] I saw that I had begun to eat of this tree of life and I saw that flaming sword was all round about. It was there to keep the devil away. Oh what privileges are ours when we are born of God. How marvelously He keeps us so that the wicked one touches us not. I see a place in God where satan dare not come. Hidden in God. And He invites us all to come and share this wonderful hidden place where our lives are hid with Christ in God, where we dwell in the secret place of the Most High and abide under the shadow of the almighty. God has this place for you  [all of us] in this blessed realm of grace."   

We Christians Are All Meant To See Oursleves Blessing The Cup And The Bread And The Vision of God Feeding Us At The Table 

1Corinthians10,16 speaks of "the cup of blessing which we bless."

Galatians2,20 says Christ lives in us: "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me."

Hebrews4,14 says Jesus is our great high priest: "Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess."

Hebrews4,15 tells that this high priest has empathy for our human weaknesses: "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin."

Then Hebrews4,16 puts a bow on how greatly confident we should be in carrying out our Spiritual worship and work for the Lord says "Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."  

Can you see this dear people of God with your eyes of faith- can you 'see' and then know his grace in you- his authorized priesthood blessing in you? "Do this in memory of me." 1Corinthians11,24. That's his authorization for all of us for our celebration of the Lord's Supper. 
 
Yes it's true. And if Jesus the hope of glory lives in us- and He's also the great high priest- and his word at 1Peter2,5 and 9 says we are by our resurrectional gospel faith and Holy Spirit- his priests- and Hebrews4,16 says we can approach the throne of His grace with confidence, and 1Corinthians10,16 says "the cup of blessing which we bless"- we should all come to the table and actually bless the bread and wine as HIS one priestly people.

First Christians Held And Used Physical Things And Gifts in Common And We Also Hold And Use Spiritual Things And Gifts In Common

The Lord brought me to Acts4,32 to back up the points in this meditation. This is the scripture that clearly and amazingly says that the disciples held everything- in the physical realm- in common- food, money, property etc:

"Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common."  KJ  We immediatly recognize the impportant and amazing statement that the first group of disciples held all physical things in common.

But this passage also suggests- and makes explicit in others- that we hold on to many Spiritual gifts and realities as one body also. 

One in "Heart" and "soul." These are not only physical parts of our body- but Spiritual parts, of our one individual eternal Spiritual bodies and our one eternal Spiritual body, the called out ones, the qahal, the "church."   

Likewise Ephesians4,4-6 we read of many more Spiritual things we all hold and share in common as God's one faithful gospel people: "There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of us all." 

And we hold our one universal priesthood, also a Spiritual thing in common. And the first and most common and essential things a priesthood does- in commo-  is bless, verbally speak out blessings, prayers for the poeple. We know this from Numbers6,22ff: "The Lord said to Moses, 23 “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: 24 ‘“The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’ 27 So they will put my name [ie His Spirit] on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”

The Aaronic Hebrews priests acted on behalf on Israel as one- one people, one Qahal, one called people, called out of Babylon, with this one blessing.

Likewise, as New Testament priests, per 1Corinthians10,16 we also as one reach out our hands and bless the cup and the bread.    

So if the first disciples held all physical things in common- how much more did they hold all these Spiritual things in common.

Conclusion: May We See That We Bless And Are Being Fed The Finest Wheat At The Table Of The Lord 

Smith Wigglesworth having gained the great confidence of a refined faith when he saw in a vision- that he had not only the right to eat of the tree of life who is Jesus, but was also fed by the very same Jeseus, tree of life, who was in the garden. And that fed Adam and Eve.

And now we pray today that we too are being fed by the tree of life- at the table our our Lord Jesus.

That we would see today our right to bless the bread and the wine and our right to eat Jesus' Spiritual flesh- his Spiritual body, His Spiritual blood- blessed by Him and us, His priests.

May we further hunger and thirst for more vison, and more and more understanding about His sacrificial love and mercy and forgiveness- and be eager to return again and again having been fed the finest food, real food and real drink, by the our mutual holy blessing of the bread and wine:

"But you would be fed with the finest of wheat; with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”
