Today's Theme: We Too Can Burn Up by The Power of the Holy Ghost
"Do this in memory of me"- doesn't just mean remembering the efficiency of Calvary long ago, but each of us Spiritually offering ourselves for purification by fire today.
Do we have the faith (confidently acting on the promises of God again and again) to burn with the fire of the Holy Ghost, to be Spiritually holocausted as Jesus was, pierced and burnt up on Calvary?
Ballpark Scriptures:
(One of Four) Hebrews 7,14-28 (one new and endless Jesus priesthood offers new Spiritual sacrifices per 1Peter2,5.
Focus Scriptures
Leviticus 5,12 (a sin offering made by burning up fine flour- relates to Jesus and our bread of Lord's supper):
"Then shall he [offeror making sin offering] bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take his handful of it, even a memorial handful of it on the altar, according to the offerings made by fire unto the Lord: it is a sin offering."
1Peter4,12: "Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you..."
Revelation 5,6: "And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain [but standing in victory with the piercings still showing].
When we come to the table of the Lord today we just don't look have a cold economical memory of the cross.
We come per Leviticus 5,12 with a burning faith that the bread we offer becomes the resurrected body of Jesus today. We come with our own sins and repent of them, and as we partake of this real food and drink (1Corinthians10,3-4), they are burned away and forgiven by faith.
Yes we can never forget Jesus' sacrifice (Rev. 5,6), which was both holocaust and a blood sacrifice.
But his sacrifice isn't a static memory. Our living faith memory of him and our witness in the form of our very lives, calls down the fire of the Holy Ghost today, and this Holy Ghost is burning fuel for the church body, and for each of us today.
So now while his presence is burning in our hearts, purifying us from our sins, we offer ourselves as living sacrifices Roman's 12,1, holy and accepatable as Jesus was.
And with this continual fire of the Holy Ghost we have the strength to pick up our cross daily, and serve some more, and live the victory over sin and death that Jesus won for us.
Finally, as we also experience the love of Jesus in the body we take heart in the words of 1John4,17: "as he is [a victorious-standing lamb, a living sacrifice, still burning with love for us] so are we in the world."
Prayer
That we could declare in faith with the Apsotle John that "as he is so are we in the world." And that our witness would direct the lost and hurting to Jesus and His table of repentance, and that their sins would be burned away, and they would be filled with the Holy Ghost, In Jesus NAME I pray.
