4.22.14
I was listening to a young couple from Meriden CT yesterday about their interest in a bible study, especially for those who are called to ministry.
There's so many people just like these dear and hungry souls, the beloved of Jesus, who are called to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastor-teachers, deacons and all manner of servants in His body (Ephesians4,11).
But there are not so many places where His people can be trained up in the necessary study of scripture for this service.
There's no substitute for some scripture study prior to the challenge of ministry.
Br. Tobin has taught scripture at various levels, in the pulpit, in the university classroom, and for 403 hours of the Preaching Hour Public Access TV (The Preaching Hour airs at 8pm Tuesday evenings on Cox cable Channel 15 in Southington, Meriden, and Cheshire CT and at 10pm Fridays and 6:30am Sundays Channel 15, VCAM, in greater Burlington, VT)
He is willing to help folks and churches in this situation, especially those who who want and need more scripture preparation, but who do not have the funds or denominational backing, or the possibility of leaving home to get trained up.
For example, we could start with a once a week introductory survey course of the "Old Testament" or better said "the Hebrew Scriptures." This is the necessary biblical foundation for all further scripture study.
The course might look something like this:
(1): Forming A People To Represent His Light;
(2): Gen. 1,26: Humans Made In His Spiritual Image;
(3): Two Failed Creation Covenants, Then Abrahamic Covenant;
(4): Abraham Learns To Trust God;
(5): Personal Covenant With Jacob;
(6): From the Contender Jacob To the Holy Witness Joseph;
(7): First Holy Savior Joseph Saves Holy Nation Israel;
(8): Moses' Burden For God's People;
(9): Moses Lifts His Staff and Leads The People Out of Egypt;
(10): Joshua: Time For A Most Obedient Leader;
(11): Joshua: The New Generation Crosses The Jordan;
(12): Discursus: The Immortal and Human Need To Sacrifice;
(13): Judges:The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly;
(14): Judges: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Part II;
(15): The Unifier Samuel: The Circuit Judge, Prophet, Priest, and Kingmaker,Part 1;
(16): The Unifier Samuel: The Circuit Judge, Prophet, Priest, and Kingmaker, Part 2;
(17): First King Saul Not The Best King- was he bipolar?;
(18): King David: Master Pol, Ruthless Soldier, And Man After God's Heart;
(19): King David: Great Man of God Because He Repented (Part 2);
(20): Solomon Continues Davidic Dynasty;
(21): Solomon's Wisdom and Rule;
(22): Elijah: Israel and Judah Separate and Prophecy Confronts Kingship;
(23): Prophet Amos: Confronts the Rich;
(24): Isaiah: The Prophet of Israel's Whole Salvation Story;
(25): Isaiah 61-66: The Golden Scriptures of Universal Salvation;
(26): Ezra And Nehemiah Pick Up The Pieces Post Exile;
(27): The Maccabees Meet Crisis, But Not Zadokite Priests or Davidic Kings;
(28): Seven Conclusions For Conviction.
This study is already available in DVD format, so you could take the course and use the DVDs for back up and review.
If you love scripture, this is your opportunity to get trained up.
Please spread the word and call us today.
Thanks for your prayers.
