"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Psalm 46,1
"There is a river who streams shall make glad the city of God." v.4
"The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice , the earth melted." v.6
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." v.10
The fastest way I know to tune into the Lord's frequency is to run to the Psalms.
I run there often. They have become like good friends, always right there, with a word of wisdom, an insight to discernment, a correction or two, a little pep talk, an answer for the asking, a very present help and answer for any need.
So no matter how many bibles I collect, the most tattered and smattered part is the Psalms.
Here immersed in them, some perhaps half memorized, is where we give our Lord a rightful opportunity to speak to us about anything and everything and repeat his personal care for each of us and the story of our salvation in him, again and again.
Psalm 46 is one such rich psalm.
While the devil and his team rages (v. 6), and spews out a false river of lies, deceptions, and destructions that we "might be carried away by the flood" (Revelation12,15), there's the ever flow of Jesus' river, the river of salvation, to which by faith we choose to direct our lives.
One invisible river flows down to the pit of the earth.
The other to the eternal city of God.
To stay in the flow of the right river we are commaned to "be still" in prayer, and know our Lord.
His Name is Jesus!
He revealed both his name and His face. We thank him for being so ever present, so ready to speak to us, and into, any situation.
Prayer
May we all "Be Still" in your honor, at least once a day, and ask you first in all our needs, and so learn to tune our spirit into Yours, and follow your word more closely. In Jesus Name we pray.
Amen.
