John G. Lake's Faith Logic

Sept. 27, 2010: John G. Lake Inspires and Teaches The Logic of Faith

As we mature in faith we come to see more and more the Holy Spirit step by step logic of it, the progressive inner man transformation dynamic of it.

For example, the faith of repentance begins a merciful and ongoing relationship with the ever living Lord of this world, Jesus Christ, which leads to professing him, which leads to a hunger and thirst for baptism in the Holy Ghost, which leads to a whole new level of understanding our human need for God and also gives us a new found ability to serve Him with power and practical wisdom.

No one to my knowledge, outside of the bible anyway, have ever come as close in his or her preaching and writing to describing the uplifting yet clear biblical logic of our human transformation, that only faith can effect, than Br. John G. Lake.

See if you can catch the soaring beauty and logic of our transformational biblical faith in this excerpt taken from "The Strong man's Way To God" from "John G. Lake, His Life, His Sermons, His Boldness of Faith" KCP,  1994 Forth Worth, pages 51-52:

"Beloved I want to tell you that the soul joined to Christ and who exercises the power of God, ascends into that high conciousness of heavenly dominion as it is in the heart of Jesus Christ today, for He is the overcomer, the only overcomer. But yet, when my soul is joined to His soul, when His Spirit flows like a heavenly stream through my spirit, when my whole nature is infilled and inspired by the life from God, I too, being joined with Him, become an overcomer, in deed and in truth. Glory be to God.

I am glad that God has permitted man even at intervals, to rise into that place of high dominion in God, for it demonstrates the purpose of God. It demonstrates that he purposes we should not only rise into the high place at intervals, but that this should be the normal life of the Christian who is joined to God every day and all the time.

Christianity is not a thing to be apologized for. Christianity is the living concious life and power of the living God, transmitted into the nature of man until, bless God, man's nature is transformed by the living touch, and the very spirit, soul and being is energized and filled by His life.

That startles some people. But the ultimate purpose of the gospel and the ultimate of the redemption of the Son of God is to reproduce and make every man- bound by sin and held by held by sensuousness and enslaved by the flesh- like Himself in deed and in truth, sons of God. Not sons of God on a lower order, but sons of God, as Jesus is.

Paul declares, "He gave some apostles,...some evangelists; and some pastors and some teachers." What for? "Till we are all come... into the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ" [Ephesians 4,11-13] Not a limited life, but an unlimited life. The idea of Christ was that every man through Jesus Christ, through being joined to Him by the Holy Spirit, should be transformed into Christ's perfect image. Christ within and Christ without. Christ in your spirit. Christ in your soul. Christ within your body. Not only living His life, but performing His works by the grace of God. That is the gospel of the Son of God. That is the thing that Paul was not ashamed of. He said, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believe; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." [Romans 1,16]

So dear friends, let's agree with John G. lake and the bible, it's one thing to read scripture and know it in our heads and to have heard the gospel that it chronicles, and it's another, higher and more noble thing altogether to enter into the inner Holy Spirit dynamic and logic of them, and continue to receive them (John 8,31) by the grace of God, and live them out with the same power by which they came to be, the power and conviction of the Holy Ghost. Yes, to livein the power of this very same Holy Ghost that wants to make us His temples, fill us with His Spirit, if we would just humble yourselves and ask for His mighty baptism.

Now this is surely the one gospel of unversal reconciliation that we can spread with new found power and understanding and without any shame at all.

So we make all this our prayer, in the mighty name of Jesus.
